How to choose your candle scent

A LITTLE SCENT MATCHMAKING

You don’t need to know every fragrance note to find a candle you’ll enjoy. Start with a familiar favorite: bright citrus, a bouquet of flowers, a walk in the woods, or something that sounds suspiciously like dessert. Then read the whole scent profile. Our chickens have big personalities, but the fragrance notes do the matchmaking.

Start with the scents you already love.

Think about the aromas you naturally reach for, rather than choosing by a candle’s name alone. A playful name tells you something about the hen; the description tells you what to expect from the fragrance. Here are a few starting points from our flock.

Bright and fruity

If orange peel, lime or tropical fruit sounds inviting, explore Orange You Feisty? for orange, fresh greenery and herbal notes. Tropic Like It’s Hot pairs lime and mango with pineapple, coconut and a creamy finish. Both start in citrus territory, but they head somewhere different.

Soft and floral

For rose, violet and a nostalgic powdery finish, meet Powder Room Politics. If you like florals with a richer twist, Silk, Sass, & Saffron adds raspberry, saffron, leather and vetiver to its rose-and-violet profile. “Floral” can cover quite a flock.

Herbal and fresh

Sage It Ain’t So brings clary sage and eucalyptus together with lavender and soft woods. For a citrus-and-tea direction, The Audaci-Tea combines mandarin, lemon, bergamot, ginger, jasmine and white tea.

Woodsy and warm

If evergreen and forest notes are your kind of cozy, Fir Sure has cypress, cedar, fir, amber and moss. Smells Expensive takes a warmer, muskier route with sandalwood, amber, cedar and a soft powder finish.

Sweet and dessert-inspired

Basic & Buttercreamed leans into pumpkin, brown sugar, warm spices and vanilla. Caramel & Chaos brings caramel coffee, butterscotch, cinnamon, chocolate and vanilla notes. These gourmand fragrances are for enjoying as candle scents—the dessert comparison is strictly for your nose.

Look beyond the first note.

Top, heart and base notes describe different parts of a fragrance’s character. Read them together: citrus with creamy coconut has a different personality from citrus with tea or woods. If there’s a note you prefer to skip, check the full profile rather than relying only on the scent family.

Fragrance notes describe aroma; they are not a complete ingredient list or an allergy screen. Our materials and sizes guide explains the coconut wax + beeswax blend and wick details separately.

Then choose your size.

Our candle sizes are Bantam (3 oz), Standard (8 oz) and Brahma (11 oz). Each product page shows the sizes currently available, their prices and their stock status. Read those details before choosing, and follow the candle’s warning label and care guidance when you use it.
